Boyds09Five Michigan children and their Presque Isle, Maine, grandparents are lovingly committed to keeping Ryan's Heart alive.

The mission of Ryan's Heart touched Dan and Jill Boyd, of Presque Isle, during this past Christmas season. This year, instead of adding to the pile of gifts under the tree, the Boyd’s sparked their grand-children's ongoing enthusiasm for helping others to now help grieving children through their bereavement process.

In a family charity project involving the youngsters, the Boyd’s purchased five Forget-Me-Not backpacks from their grandchildren, McKenzie (14), Matthew (14), Noah (10), Gracie (6) and Faith (5).

2009 Aroostook Spin-0ff

In August 2009, Ryan's Heart teamed up with The Aroostook Medical Center and County Physical Therapy of Presque Isle, ME. Ten dedicated spinners raised money for grieving children by completing a 3 hour outdoor spin-off. Each spinner raised a minimum of $120 to participate; however, many went above and beyond that amount.

Steve Boddy and KC & Company DJ Services kept the spin team on their toes by keeping them updated and providing the music.

Volunteers, both young and old arrived to help cheer the spinners on and to participate in the car wash and bake sale that was going on simultaneously.

After raising over $1800 for the 3 hour event, we ended the event with a very emotional Hearts for Heaven balloon release.

Many thanks to all of the spinners, the bakers, the children and to The Aroostook Medical Center and County Physical Therapy. Thanks to all of you, the was a hugely successful event!
